Philadelphia Family Photographer Takes Pictures At Merion Botanical Park and Receives a Glowing Review
Philadelphia, PA - Polina Bulman, an award-winning Philadelphia family photographer, refers to herself as a “visual biographer.” Bulman calls her style family storytelling where she captures the joy in the commonplace in a family’s life, or what she calls “the extraordinary of an ordinary day.”
The Philadelphia family photographer was recently asked to take family photos at Merion Botanical Park, a 13-acre lovingly-tended neighborhood park and botanical garden located in Merion, PA. The couple, both busy medical professionals, hired Polina based on her unique take on family photography, knowing that the product would not be the typical staged family photographs.
The session began with playing in the couple’s backyard with their three sons, and soon moved to Merion Botanical Park, 5 minutes away from the couple’s home. Moving into nature, away from the pressures and stresses of family life that can be contained within the four walls of home, is often key to helping a family relax and have fun. Merion Botanical Park was the perfect backdrop for this.
The first part of the session focused on the baby brother, but big brother was more intrigued by the photographer herself.
“The oldest brother liked me so much that he was following me around the entire session and pretended to be a photographer, too. He asked so many questions about photography, even pretending to take his own photos,” said Ms. Bulman.
Soon, however, the family forgot about the photographer and instead concentrated on the playtime at hand -- hide and seek, leaf fights, tree climbs, and pebble tosses. The product was a perfect photo-chronicle of a morning of playful joy and the love of family, with the beauty of a crisp autumn day in Merion Botanical Park as the backdrop.
“We got some beautiful family portraits, with tons of fun moments captured that could be used for portraits or holiday cards,” Ms. Bulman continued. “Merion Botanical Park is the perfect place for these candid photos and it lent a beautiful and natural background for our session.”
Merion Botanical Park, located at 100 Merion Road, was established in 1944 and has been lovingly maintained and tended by a dedicated group of volunteers in cooperation with the township. It is a testament to the power of community and the resiliency of nature since the park itself sprung from an abandoned lot and dumpsite.
Over its 70-year history, it has grown into a peaceful and well-loved community park with a vast variety of plants and trees, bridges, waterfalls, and open areas. It is a favorite place for locals to walk dogs, enjoy the quiet solitude, and also take family photographs.
Soon after the photography session, Ms. Bulman was pleased to find a 5-star review left by the family, "Polina was so lovely to work with. She took beautiful photos of our family and was very flexible and easy-going. We will definitely use her again for family photos and would highly recommend her!!"
