OMBE Launches 12 Week Accelerated Surfing Program To Teach Novices How To Surf

The OMBE Surf Program, a collaborative project between a number of surfing coaches and industry partners, has launched a 12 week accelerated surfing program that allows surfers to improve their surfing technique both in and out of the water.

The program presents a roadmap for surfers who are struggling with improving their surfing despite having spent many hours in the water. The program uses an innovative approach to surf training that requires learners to perform exercises and maneuvers both on land and in water. It teaches them skills such as improving their pop-up so that it doesn’t hold them back on the take-off, progressing in changing surf conditions, building a new style, developing proper technique, surfing with more power and speed, and making the most of every wave.

The program resources are all digital and can be accessed from anywhere in the world, at any time using its desktop (Mac or PC), iOS, or Android apps. All the methods taught in the program have exhaustive explanations, breakdowns followed by detailed theory, and follow-along exercises. The curriculum of the course is freely available to be perused on OMBE’s website.

The program offers lifetime access. The software will record and keep the student’s progress or if they choose to, they can clear it and start again. The program can be accessed from the website or through the OMBE Surf app and progress is synced between all of them

The program doesn’t require the learner to even have a surfboard to start. As the student progresses, they will need a surf skateboard and a Bosu ball to continue working on the drills. The student can perform some of the drills even if they are landlocked or have long waits between surfing sessions.

The program offers a 30-day full refund policy. As of the time of writing, the website also offered a 30% discount bringing the price of the program down from its usual price of $998 to just $648. Students can also take advantage of a payment plan and pay for the course over three months by paying a nominal $30 fee.

A spokesperson for OMBE Surf talks about the need for the program by saying, “If you are a novice surfer, you probably spend a lot of time planning out your day and activities to get as much time as possible in the water, hoping that it will make your surfing better. If you live far away from the ocean, you might not get enough time to practice your moves and might end up missing the best of the swell. Whatever boat you are in, there is no guarantee that spending more time surfing is going to make you better and in some cases, if you follow bad techniques, it might even make your surfing worse. We designed this program to eliminate the guesswork from surfing. We are trying to teach learners the basics of how to surf and give them the best chance to elevate their craft to a level that will make them the envy of every beach.”

The OMBE Surf Program has been created by Clayton Nienaber who has spent more than 30 years accumulating a wealth of surfing knowledge. Having been a professional surfer on the world tour, shaper, and a high-performance surfing coach for over 15 years, he has coached some of the best surfers in the world including Travis Logie, Ricky Basnett, Jordy Smith, and other lead national surfing teams.

A review from a satisfied student says, “The most insightful explanations of surfing and surf movement that I have seen so far. Clayton's way of analyzing, explaining, and breaking down movement patterns is second to none and he will see minute details that most other people cant see. OMBE seems to have covered all the bases with having the best people in their fields as part of the service, whether it’s Clayton with the surf technique or Chris with the body movement and mechanics. I could listen to these guys for days.”
