Mitchell Levy from Credibility Nation Gives TEDx Talk On Restoring Credible Behavior In Humanity
Mitchell Levy, founder and chief spokesperson for Credibility Nation, gave a talk in January 2021 at TEDx Tenaya Paseo titled “We are Losing Our Humanity and I’m Tired of Watching it Happen”.
The crux of the talk revolves around the idea that humans have lost credibility in the modern world as they stray further away from the ideals of acceptable and trustworthy behavior and embrace dubious actions that harm their reputation amongst their peers. In the 16 minute TEDx talk, Mitchell Levy proposes a framework that he believes is the ideal solution to correct the situation.
The TEDx talk has been very well received since the day it was uploaded. It has over 620 comments as of the time of writing with most commenters praising the message that Mitchell is trying to send. The talk was also ranked at number 28 on the list of “The 50 Most Popular TEDx Talks Released In 2021 On YouTube”.

Mitchell comments on the reception to his TEDx talk by saying, "About 95% of the way through the research, I had a wake-up call. A call to share with the world what credibility truly means in today's world and by being credible we have a simple formula for being more humane. Many folks have been intrigued by the premise of my core message about bringing humanity back into the way you live life and do business. I believe it is one of the defining challenges of our generation and many business leaders and influencers can benefit from the learnings that I’ve had over the years. Humans are being taught from a young age to be dubious and to lose their credibility. Dubious people in power get away with just a slap on the wrist, sending the message to the larger world that dubious behavior pays great dividends. In my quest to find out the truth about credibility in society, I interviewed 500 leaders in the field of business and found out that, shockingly, a large percentage of them either flaked on their commitment for the interview, rudely cut off contact without a follow-up, were late for the interview, or needed clarity about their business or the purpose of their online identity. It was a wake-up call that compelled me to find a path forward for ending the trend of dubiousness and moving towards being credible.”
Mitchell Levy has also worked on a number of other communities and training programs over the years. One such program, CredReels, lets participants create a short-video interview showcasing who they are by sharing who they serve, what they do, and the credibility that they have to do what they do. The TEDx talk defines credibility as a framework that comprises three main components - being known, being likable, and being trustworthy. The first pillar of credibility, being known, is comprised of intent, commitment, integrity, and leadership style. The second pillar of credibility, being likable, can be achieved by showing respect and sharing the stage to dispense knowledge. Finally, the last pillar of credibility, being trustworthy, is a matter of authenticity, integrity, vulnerability, and coachability.
When asked about the real measures that can be implemented to move away from dubious behavior and towards credibility, Mitchell says, “Going from dubious to credible is a continuous learning experience that can be helped along by syncing up with an accountability partner who catches and interrupts the learner’s inadvertent dubious behavior. I strongly believe that people can be taught how to be credible by drawing attention to the many ways in which they act dubiously and giving them a chance to correct their course.”
