Freedom Factory: Introducing Tyler Tysdal And His Special Skills
Freedom Factory, a Greenwood Village, Colorado based brokerage firm, is reaching out to the wider community to provide an introduction to Tyler Tysdal and share information about the special skills that he brings to their operations. Freedom Factory was co-founded by Robert Hirsch and Tyler Tysdal and is dedicated to helping entrepreneurs sell their businesses for the most value.
Tyler T. Tysdal is a lifelong entrepreneur who first discovered the joys and challenges of self-employment at the age of 14. Tyler Tysdal was a collector and trader of baseball cards, and his budding entrepreneurial spirit spurred him to create Triple T’s Sports Collectibles, a national mail-order trading card and memorabilia business that found a wide audience through ads in trade magazines. While market inefficiencies were numerous in this pre-internet era, a young Tyler Tysdal experienced his first big business win with $14,000 a month of profit.
Thirty years later, he now serves as the co-founder and managing director of the Denver-based Freedom Factory where he is dedicated to helping his fellow entrepreneurs throughout the United States sell their businesses for the most value possible. Tysdal has many years of experience in asset management as a private equity manager and has founded a number of different ventures as a managing partner of Tivis Capital, an incubator for entrepreneurial investors and athletes. Tivis Capital has built companies in healthcare, sports and entertainment and real estate.
At Freedom Factory, Tysdal's background and experience as an operator, investment banker, SEC expert and private equity fund investor are put to use on behalf of fellow entrepreneurs who are following his same path. Tysdal says, “Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work with more than 50 companies, from their inception to their exits, and I consider myself an entrepreneur’s entrepreneur. I know the hurdles business owners overcome, the worries that keep them up at night and the triumphs that carry them forward — I have experienced them, too. I can help you at every step of the process, deftly sidestepping common issues you might face, because I have been through the process enough times myself.”
Having graduated from Georgetown University with a B.S.B.A. in finance and earned his MBA from Harvard Business School, Tysdal joined Alex Brown & Sons where he primarily worked on mergers and acquisitions (buying and selling private companies) and raising equity and debt capital for businesses with new investors. This included taking them public through the Initial Public Offering (IPO) process. Tysdal has worked on the buy-side, the sell-side and as an agent in deals for businesses ranging from $100,000 to more than $1 billion.
Over the years, Tysdal has been an owner and managing partner of private equity and venture capital firms, and he has worked as an entrepreneur raising capital for his own private companies at certain times. As an investor, Tysdal has managed assets and financially backed multiple other entrepreneurs and investors. He has managed or co-managed approximately $1.7 billion for ultra-wealthy families and has helped create hundreds of millions in wealth for his private equity investors.
Tysdal says, “In the end, however, it all comes down to entrepreneurship for me. The truth is that self starters create jobs and create wealth — and they stand as the single largest generator of economic success across the United States and in global markets. It is important that the people who come up with new ideas, the ones who innovate and invent and create, are supported in their journey, and I feel that it is almost my duty to do my part to help them achieve success.”
